Reports from the field: Million Baby Crawl

Posted by Safer States on Nov 23, 2009

Last week, in events around the country, thousands of concerned citizens came out in support of the Million Baby Crawl —a joint effort by Seventh Generation and Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families to urge Congress to reform toxic chemical policy.

The events, held in six states, attracted celebrities such as Erin Brockovich in New York and Trista and Ryan Sutter in Colorado. Ms. Brockovich has signed on as an event spokesperson, and as you can see from the video above, feels that the Million Baby Crawl is an important way to focus public attention on toxic chemical reform.

If you read this blog, chances are you’ve been following the Million Baby Crawl and have probably signed up and joined the crawl. This holiday weekend, it’s important to remember that we are fighting to protect your family on the federal and state level. MBC events were held in some states that are part of the SAFER coalition. Check out their sites for more information on how they are protecting your family:

Washington: Passed the Children’s Safe products act to ban dangerous chemicals from children’s products.

Minnesota: In 2009, became the first state to ban BPA.

New York: Working to ban BPA on a county-by-county level.

Massachusetts: Continuing to push the state legislature for toxic chemical bans.
